Rare early Milwards “Matchcraft” 14ft 3 piece Avon Rod with whole cane butt and centre sections and split cane tip section. In good condition for its age, with bronzed brass ferrules, burgundy eye and intermediate whippings, lined butt and tip rings, and a 25” cork handle with twin alloy sliding ring reel fittings. This rare and all original coarse fishing rod, marked 1453, comes with turned hardwood stoppers and a 3 pocket khaki canvas bag. As to be expected of an aged original rod some of the eye whippings have relaxed allowing a slight movement, the lacquer surface is also showing signs of wear in some areas.
