A pair of rare vintage B. James (Anglian Times Prize) Avocet 11ft 3 piece split cane Float Rod circa 1960. These rods are in excellent condition having been professionally renovated by rod maker John Brought in 2008, benefiting from bronzed brass suction ferrules, crimson silk eye and intermediate whippings, red agate lined butt and tip rings, turned hardwood stoppers, and a 25” onion cork handle with twin alloy sliding ring reel fittings . Sold as a pair that were part of the Stacey Weeks collection , each rod has London transfer labels, green oval Angling Times Prize decals applied and come complete in B. James 3 pocket khaki cloth bags. These rods were featured in an article in the Angling Times (25th Nov 1960) detailing the exceptional catches of two Devon anglers in the same week, this was the first time AT had given two prizes in the same week, an extract of the article is included in this sale.
